The University of Delhi’s Indraprastha Institution for Women (founded in 1924) is the city’s oldest college. It is set on a magnificent campus that is a recognised heritage property and a symbol of Delhi, and it was founded as part of a statewide movement for women’s education and empowerment. It has roughly 3500 students enrolled in its undergraduate and graduate programmes. The College provides a diverse curriculum that encourages integrative study in the Humanities, Mathematical Sciences, and Commerce streams. It has an active Internal Quality Assurance Cell and was awarded Grade ‘A’ accreditation (IQAC).

A robust Diversity Integration Program is part of the College Student Services. It operates on the basis of a need-blind admission policy. The College is barrier-free, with an Enabling Unit (EU) and Equal Opportunity Cell “Under One Roof” (EOC). The College offers a Research Methodology Program for advanced students, as well as an Undergraduate Research Grant for new and original ideas. It provides basic medical services, including the presence of a nurse and a counsellor on a daily basis, as well as access to the local hospital in the event of a medical emergency. A mentoring programme and a Career Guidance and Placement Cell are available at the college.

Seven Research and Learning Resource Centres have been established at the College. The Museum and Archives Learning Resource Centre holds the College’s historical and contemporary exhibitions. The Translation and Translation Studies Centre is a non-profit organisation dedicated to independent language research and talent development. The Centre for Earth Studies emphasises ecological and environmental studies, while the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies brings together all of the College’s specialities. In 2017, the Music Archives & Listening Room (Baithak) and the Centre for Sanskrit Studies and Research were added. In 2019, the Yoga and Well-Being Centre was added.
